Using keyword density the right way
Modern search engines understand topics, synonyms and intent, so repeating a keyword over and over no longer helps and can hurt. Use this checker to spot accidental over-use and to make sure your content actually covers the phrases people search for.
What to look for
- Your focus keyword appears in the title, first paragraph and at least one subheading.
- Related two and three-word phrases show you're covering the topic in depth.
- No single word is unnaturally dominant.
FAQs
What is keyword density?
Keyword density is how often a word or phrase appears in a piece of content, as a percentage of the total word count.
What is the ideal keyword density?
There's no magic number. Most well-ranking pages use their main keyword around 0.5% to 2.5% of the time. Write for readers first and avoid stuffing.
Is my content stored?
No. The analysis runs entirely in your browser and nothing is sent to our servers.
